Brakes - Tires - Wheels - Suspension

Brakes

Suspension

What can be checked and/or repaired so the brakes will work properly on your vehicle?
Here are the basics:
  • the linings, both front and rear
  • the rotors and drums
  • the calipers (bushings, pins, sleeves and cylinders)
  • the hoses
  • the brake fluid
  • the wheel bearings
  • the lubricant on all the parts
  • the parking brake
  • the ABS system (the warning system)
Our trained technicians can determine what preventative maintenance or repairs are needed to keep you on the road and driving safely.
Tires &wheels, struts & shock absorbers, springs, linkages, bushings, bearings and joints plus the steering system are all items that makes up your vehicle's suspension system.  It is basically the thing that connects your car to its wheels and is responsible for how your car feels and handles when you drive it.

You know there is a suspension issue when:
  • the nose of the car dives down when you stop
  • the car drifts or pulls to one side
  • the vehicle keeps bouncing after a speed bump
  • the tires are wearing unevenly
You will probably "feel" a suspension issue because you will notice your ride getting bumpier or bouncier, or harder to steer; it will not feel right.  That's when you need to bring it in.

Tires

Tires need to be rotated and balanced every 3000 to 6000 miles.  There are good reasons for this.
  • It evens out the wear and tear on the tires and they will last longer.
  • It will keep your ride smooth.  If you feel vibrations as you go down the road, chances are your tires are out of balance.
  • You will save on fuel costs.  Unbalanced tires keep your vehicle from operating efficiently.
  • Your safety.  Your ability to steer and brake the car are significantly hampered by unbalanced and unevenly worn tires.

Wheel Alignment

A wheel alignment is often referred to as a 'front end alignment'.
However, a wheel alignment can involve more than just the two front wheels.
A wheel alignment is the adjusting of the angles of the wheels so that they are perpendicular to the ground and parallel to each other.
Uneven tread wear on a vehicle's wheels is often a result of a car being out of alignment.  Other signs are when it becomes difficult to steer the car, or it pulls to one side, and hearing the tires screech when taking a corner.
A wheel alignment is not necessary every time the tires are rotated.  Good mechanics will ask you the right questions and advise you when they see the signs that your alignment needs to be checked and corrected.
